Recycling church bulletins

Mar 25, 2008 12:32am KRK Total Posts: 26	Every sunday each church prints hundreds of bulletins (programs) for their services. These sheets of paper are looked at for a few minutes and then tossed to the side. I’ve tried to figure out a way for churches to avoid these completely but with things constantly changing, especially in large churches, these are an unfortunate necessity. I have begun talking to my church office about organizing a way to collect these after the service and get them recycled, even if I have to drop them off myself. This could save tons of paper and room in our landfills. If we can convince our churches to print on recycled paper as well then we can greatly reduce the negative impact that they have on the planet God has given us. I hope that many others read this and follow my example. Even if you don’t have a church home I encourage you to ask local churches to do this, and just because your church agrees to recycle don’t stop there, start asking all your local churches. Please pass this idea on.


Mar 27, 2008 12:18pm jlc mom Total Posts: 125	Very good idea, and very easy for them to do. My church has bins for recycled paper for this purpose. People also hand the bulletin back in after one service, to be used at the next. They have also given people the option of getting newsletters, etc. via email, which cuts down on a lot of paper.

Jun 08, 2008 12:58pm Environa Total Posts: 30	An office paper bin was just added to our local recycling center. I will give this a try now that I wouldn’t have to haul these to work. Speaking of office paper recycing… I work in an office of 11. We generate A LOT of office paper. Our trash cans are nearly empty, but our recycle box overflows!!! Only issue with what we started is emptying before the paper is too heavy. This is a challenge with gas prices rising… everyone is trying to drive less. The paper bin is out of the way by a handfull of miles! But church bulletins… we can handle that here in our household for we visit the landfill once every 2 weeks. is your bulletin recycling working???
