Jack Johnson gig at Watergate Bay, Newquay - Is it still on?

Total Posts: 4

Just wondering if anyone knows if the Jack Johnson gig at Watergate Bay is still on tomorrow. The weather is appalling and there is a severe weather warning out for tomorrow for driving rain and gale force winds that may cause structural damage. The venue is an exposed field on top of a cliff, that in the sunshine is amazing but in rough weather is dangerous!
I can’t seem to find out any information on if decisions are being made to cancel.
Thanks,
Leanne

If you cant find anything saying its canceled, I would just assume it’s still on, was hoping to go to this gig on the Sunday but opt for Hyde park instead. Have a great night.

Just woke up and the weather is extreme here in St Austell and there is a weather warning from the met office of severe weather with torrential rain and gale or severe gale force winds on exposed coasts. It looks as if the strongest winds will track down through the south coast but it’s still going to be pretty full on up at Newquay. I haven’t heard anything to say it’s off but will post on here if I hear anything!

was looking forward to the gig but not much looking forward to the prospect of standing on a cliff in torrential rain!! better to rearrange for another time - got quite a long way to travel so am delayng setting off till the last possible moment as can’t see it going ahead with the forecast as is, but listening to bbc radio cornwall via web and not heard anything to say its cancelled as yet....

No, I’ve not heard anything either, but it is so rough weather wise. If they do run the show tonight the field will be in an awful condition for the gig tomorrow. I have ticket and wellies in hand but am just waiting to see if they do cancel.

ok just heard on bbc radio cornwall that the gig will start at 5 instead of 3 (so now am really confused!!) anyway gonna chance it and set out (tried ringing ticketmaster but they said as far as they knew it was still on....and suggested that if we got there and it was cancelled we should ring them back..........)

Defo not happening, such a pity but the weather is awful. No idea if we can get refunds, my friend bought my ticket, so I am not sure what to do.

they will give you a refund for the tickets

deff a shame was well looking forward to iit

set off for gig but heard on radio after driving for about 45 mins it had been postponed (at least we had not driven all of the way to newquay which would have taken nearly three hours!!) then ticketmaster rang to confirm postponed, then rang again to say cancelled altogether, not being re-arranged and tickets would be refunded.  disappointed - but what can you do - nothing like an english summer.....

A CORNISH summer is NOT an English summer, bootboy,Cornwall being NEXT to England, like Wales and Scotland.

Fix those anglo-centric curriculum designed in gaps in your education HERE:

Take Jack Johnson with you - his gig list needs correcting too, viz:

Newquay,Cornwall,UK.  (NOT ‘England’)

To truthful unspun futures.

What are Jetpowered Jack Johnson’s ‘eco’ statements really worth?

I stand corrected - thank you so much.  Are all the cornish as friendly as you?

Some of us are friendlier!
:) I heard that Jack played a secret gig in a pub near by last night. I saw him at Tremough in 2005 and it was amazing, so I am gutted to miss him tonight.

Yeah he did a secret gig at the fister last night.

Anyone who fancys a bit of seaside partying at the end of August have a look at surfstock http://www.surfstock.co.uk ......and its all undercover!!!

Team Kernow - get a life! Sorry to all on behalf of Cornwall - not all of us are as nationalistic - although Cornwall is not actually a nation state so that phrase is not really appropriate. Funny how many English flags I see flying from cars every couple of years when ‘England’ make the football finals!! Shame about the gig being cancelled - doesn’t seem too bad now and I’ve experienced worse - tough call for them but probably the right one at the time. Dam those secret gigs - wish they weren’t so secret ;)
