Young Kids at Jack Johnson Gig at Watergate UK

I need to get some confirmation regarding my toddlers getting into the Jack Johnson gig at Watergate Bay near Newquay in the UK. I mamaged to get 2 tickets for myself and my wife but need to know if I need to buy 2 more FULL price tickets for my 2 year old daughter and my 4 year old son. If so I am one not too happy fan and would feel completely ripped off as I don’t know any other performers that would do this for such an event. Obviously I cannot buy 2 more tickets for my kids now if this is going to have to be the case as the day I had tickets for has sold out so thats my day stuffed. If anybody could confirm either way that would be great so I can try to plan what to do with my possibly useless tickets.

well buddy , think of it this way if everyone can bring there daugther and son what ever age, the concert would be so full that even people who paid good prices wouldn’t be able to get in, it just makes sense. umm get a baby sitter or get more tickets man , it not that hard.NOw if the event wasn’t sold out i could see you maybe getting lucky , but if its sold out that means no more people. sell them useless tickets to some others who would like to go. Good luck!

Thanks for the eloquent reply MAN.....obviously you are not a parent and do not want anybody who is a parent to appreciate music with their kids as the tiny people “might fill up the venue” stealing space from the full paying people like yourself and “stop full paying people getting in”. Are you real? Have you been to any outdoor gigs in the last 10 years? How much space dose a 2 year old use up?

Let me educate you into some outdoor gigs this year and people under 5 going to the events
Bonaroo ( Helped to promote Jack Johnson to who he is today) Under 5’s FREE....
Beautiful Days Under 5’s FREE....
Rip Curl Unleashed ( same venue as Jack Johnson gig at Watergate and organised by the same people - Under 5’s FREE.....
V Festival - Under 5’s FREE......
Glastonbury Festival UK - Under 12’s FREE.......
Lollapalooza - Under 10’s FREE......
Jack Johnson Incorporated $$$$$$$$ Full price Tickets - not on.....

Could somebody from the Jack Johnson camp please confirm the situation regarding the tickets for under 5’s as I understand they are not the demagraphic who part with cash to buy his albums but the parents do, and to alienate Under 5’s making them pay for a full price ticket is really not on.

you sure are uptight...I have two kids and I would never assume that they could get into a show for free.  No matter their age!  A two year old can take up a lot of space!  Let’s say your kid start to cry and boob because of the stimulation from the music and people?  HUH!  The world didn’t stop because you produced kids.  Your sound very selfish, and you kids will probally be the same.  Sounds to me like you had kids so others can raise them for you.  Most of you eye opening shows are FESTIVALS, not concerts!  And for the ‘where have you been for the last ten years’ quote...Maybe you could get you kids into a Sticks or White Snake concert.  Remember...When you assume you make an ASS out of U and ME !  I think your NOT ON!  I don’t think Jack went out of his way to make you so upset.  But then again...HA!

calm down , i was just posting reply not trying to make you get mad, well jack johnson tour is the hottest tour this year. So how much space would that take, umm lets see 20 parents with 2 kids each that would be 40 more people, its not like they can stand on top of them, umm its just common sense man its not hard, yea festivals let you because most people want to see only one band usually and the lawn is big, i mean come just buy another ticket and your kids can enjoy the show like you nothing in life is free so don’t get your hopes up man there is a reason they use term like “ sold out” how would you feel if i go a school and invite 100 kids and get there early and you who paid lots of money for a ticket have to watch from the back, umm yea , it can’t get more clearer , just pay and support Jack.

Not uptight , just realistic and feeling a bit ripped off. How old are your kids ‘poorboy’, are they under 5? I can understand paying for older kids but under 5 has always been the cutoff for concerts as artists are usually trying to encourage the listeners of the future to get into music. Every single outdoor gig I have been to in the last 10 years has made room for the under 5’s and not charged which is why I listed all the other outdoor events above that welcome and embrace the under 5’s , just working on experience really. I am only after confirmation from the Jack Johnson camp so I can decide what to do with my tickets as I don’t want to “dump” my kids as ‘raider208’ suggested as it is not common practice to do so at outdoor ‘family’ concerts but to take them along to introduce them to live music. if people are going to begin to charge a 2 year old and a 4 year £40 each to go to a concert I think we are on a serious downward spiral.

Does ANYBODY know if we will have to buy 2 x £40 tickets are necessary for my two children under 5 at the Jack Johnson gig in Watergate Bay? That is all I need to know so I can plan what to do for the day (as the tickets sold out so quickly I won’t be able to get another 2 tickets for the gig anyway) and also let the other parents I know who are in the same boat as me that their tickets are useless unless they decide to leave their under 5’s at home for the day which any decent parent will be reluctant to do.

ring hallforcornwall on 01872 262466. They are selling tickets as well, so you could ask them, they may have more information.

Thanks cornishwave, I’ll give that a go. Had not even thought about doing that as I purchased mine online.

hey look at the news page it kinda says something concerning the under 5 child for a out door thing.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - UPDATE TO THE CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR THE CENTENNIAL PARK SHOW - would the same conditions apply to the concert at Watergate Bay Newquay. Please advise Jack Johnson camp. Thanks.

Everyone here has a point.....I was a bit upset when I first read about the info.....But, the kids are another person running around enjoying themselves. I plan on taking my 9 month old to his concert in August where I live. If I had to purchase a ticket, I would just think about how important it really is that they go, Yes the kids will enjoy it, but if I really felt necessary that they go, I would buy the tic. It also didn’t say that they weren’t allowed....
I really think it’s only that specific venue anyway, so no worries...right?

I have since had an email back from a ticket agent regarding the concert at Watergate bay, it is an all tickets affair so I will have to buy them both a ticket if I was taking them but here comes the crunch, they are not welcome really as the organisers have said strictly no buggies or pushchairs so ‘levdev’ would have to be prepared to carry your 9 month old around for the whole day. Basically kids are simply NOT welcome on this tour, I think that much is obvious. Oh well.

I’m sure it’s the venues thing....I’m also sure there are reasons for their rules......whatever they may be, i guess we need to respect their rules & have a good time, right…
Again, I’m sure they never said kids aren’t “ welcome “.
I definatley don’t mind packing my girl around, she’ll be 15 months when the show gets here. I hope your family has a great time at the show, don’t let a few rules ruin in for you.....

i think it would be an issue relating for certain venues. there are many liablity and OH&S;concerns involving prams or pushchairs in some venues. and in other venues there just isn’t enough room to fit prams etc in if the park is filled with a soldout show. there are limited numbers of tix as that is how many PEOPLE can fit into a venue safely, tix dont account for prams or anything else. i’d be happy to know that the venue is safe for me to attend, rather than how many people they can squish in at one time. and i wouldn’t wanna be constantly bumped into by a pram either, which happens enough in shopping centres, imagine what it would be like in a more crowed area?

Pretty sure Jack went out of his way to make sure the ticket procedures were set just so he could screw families with young kids out of a few extra bucks.  That is exactly how I imagine Jack rolls.  When I finally get a chance to see him again in CA, you can bet that I will pay full price for my 5 year old son so I can support his imperialistic effort to control the world

I really think that kids should be able to enter the venues free. I mean they don’t really take up much space, and the fact that they charge £40 per ticket is insane! In my mind, it is unfair, and a flaw in both theories and practises of the concert pricing.
