i live in Victoria,Australia and my school cheltenham high we have this subject for year eights and we have it for two periods a day its called learning futures and we lean about climate change green house gases and what we can do to help now this is compulsory i guess we are going through a drought we need to learn about how we can make a difference but all the students think its the biggest waste of time and im the only one out of year eight that thinks this is something i want to dedicate myself to help i might not want an occupation running an organization but i would certainly donate and be a spokes person as i follow my dream of being involved some how with music and sport but sure its alot to get used to with them hitting us with the hard stuff about how we are gonna be part a rise or fall of this planet if we don’t do something now!!!!!!!!! so i say that if ur a true jack johnson fan and didn’t want the world to end well we should all put forward our best to help our earth by adrian(13)(aus)

I think it’s awesome that you appreciate and understand what you are learning about—and it’s sad that your peers don’t.  No matter what career path someone chooses, there are so many choices we make every day (little and big) that have impacts for us all.  But don’t let yourself get discouraged—be a positive force in this world, one person can and does make a difference.  Hopefully the rest of them will catch up sooner than later!

Im with you adrian. At my school we dont have a program running for the awarness of global warming and environmental issues. Ive tried to talk my friends into forming a group that will do so. But my friends find it a waste of time. I was wondering if your school is a government funded school and if it was a christian school. My school is a christian school and focuses its money on religion rather than whats realy happening right here and now.

Adrian- i think it’s fantastic that you are taking such an interest! instead of asking your friends to join a group, how about stepping outside of you immediate group and search for other people in your school or town with the same or similiar interests. you could put up notices or check the group notices in the local newspaper. just and idea. keep up the positivity!

Adrian this is so awesome to hear!!  It’s also awesome that your school bothers to do this with you guys - the fact is, schools exist to help us grow into productive and beneficial citizens, and it sounds like your school is doing that.  Awesome.  Don’t be too surprised at the reactions of your classmates - you’re definitely way ahead of them in your response to these issues.  At your age, it’s normal to be a lot more focused on yourself than on other, bigger issues - it’s just a natural part of development.  However, let’s hope that you can help your friends see the importance of what they’re learning in your responses to it, and in your lifestyle and goals.

Yes,

All schools for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing include Gallaudet University in Washington, DC, National Technology Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, and Deaf programs in Mainstream schools should have Environment Education to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing people to increase their awareness of Climate Change around the World.

Now, Deaf people already have Eco-Deaf Website to promote the environment awareness, caring environment like the plants and animals, and its ecosystems in the world, teach to new Deaf and Hard of Hearing people about refuse and recycle the cans, glasses, and plastic bottles, etc.

We need to educate more, more, more people in our Precious Earth no matters what the people are. We are the people, the people of Color, and the people with Disabilities, and the diversity of people around our Precious Earth.

Thank you,

I think all schools should have this kind of course. I’m going into 11th grade and last year there were actually people in my chem class who said they didn’t believe in global warming. I was so shocked I think that was what really set me off to do everything I can, no matter how small, to help the environment
Message me to talk:)

Im in eighth grade now and am 13 and almost evryone in my school thinks global warming is a joke and only now are we even starting to learn about the ozone hole air pollution industrial pollution vehicle exhaust etc. but now we are donig projects to clean up our rivers and forests in my town .schools should really focus on this because it will effect younger generations more because we wil be the ones to pick up the mess
