Make Earth Hour Happen In Your Town

On 31 March 2007, more than 2 million Sydney businesses and households
turned off their lights for one hour - Earth Hour - sending a powerful national
and global message that it’s possible to take action on global warming.
At 8pm on 29 March 2008, Earth Hour goes global, with cities and towns
around the world taking stand on the greatest threat our planet has ever
faced, and millions of people uniting to turn the tide on global warming.

Cities such as Chicago, Toronto, Melbourne, Brisbane, Tel Aviv, and many more will all be participating in this movement. Over 133,209 households and 8,690 companies have signed up at www. earthhour. org

I am Trying to make earth hour part of our local community for this year and the future. I hope that the residents and businesses of south Florida decide to take an active roll against global warming. You all should do the same in your towns.

Remember “We did not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” Native American proverb.

EARTH HOUR - MARCH 29TH, 8-9 PM LOCAL TIME!!!!! PLEASE PARTICIPATE

Earth Hour is a global event created to symbolize that each of us, working together, can make a positive impact on climate change--no matter who we are or where we live.
Starting at 8pm local time on March 29, 2008, individuals, communities and businesses will “ turn off the lights” in cities around the world for one hour. This simple act will not only heighten awareness of the impacts of climate change on our world, but also inspire individuals and businesses to take practical action to reduce their own carbon footprint.

San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge will be going dark for Earth Hour. Everyone around the world is encouraged to be involved and shut the lights off in their homes and businesses. Major participation is planned in 25 cities around the world, on six continents.

What can I do?
1. Sign up to participate in Earth Hour. Pledge to turn off your lights from 8 - 9 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2008. During that hour, replace old light bulbs with energy- efficient compact fluoresce= nt bulbs (CFLs) and commit to reducing energy consumption in the year = ahead.
2. Tell your friends about Earth Hour. Share this message with your friends and family to encourage them to join with you (and millions of others) in support of Earth Hour.

Try it on March 29 and you might decide to turn off the power more often…

ok, I signed up!  thanks for posting.
