countries everywhere go through wars and disasters and you see the big countries like America, england,Australia and Russia sit back while wars go on and disasters are happening now i know this is common in some countries like iraq were all you can here are gun shots and bombs going off and also there are some countries in the pacific which means very strong winds in monsoon season which means peoples houses are falling apart and what do they do worry about the wars when they can spread the forces to places that need restoration and also they can fight the war and restore and if the people on this site had there say there would be no war .awareness support and peace we should live by i know i am.by adrian(13)(aus)

It would be a great thing if that happened. However, all the big countries are already doing so many things, through the government and various private organizations. What I think would really make a difference, would be if some of the smaller countries joined in, lending a hand or two to their neighboors and so on.

but as i state many of the little country’s don’t have enough forces or are apart some clan involving the taliban which means its kinda hard to find a government which will aprove a little country getting involved but as it is they have problems of there own i dont know maybe wars are happenning or there going through world hunger or maybe just maybe they are such a poor country that cant afford to get involved as it is they might not have any food but as you said it would be nice but they are just like the big countries they have got enough problems and if America/uk/Australia should get of there butts and organize who needs the help most and if they restore those countries they can join and help but i do understand your point but people shouldnt die of hunger and fighting in iraq wont make any difference its just putting up the death toll. adrian(13)(aus)

I don’t have the book with me currently, but in Small Wonder by Barbara Kingsolver there are some surprising numbers about international aid. Countries like the US send tiny portions of the GDP (gross domestic product, a wealth measure) (something like .1%) for food, development, education and other international aid. Meanwhile “poorer” countries send so much more of their GDP (say 1%). It’s a proven fact that developing a countries health and educational system reduces war and internal conflict more effectively then military action. I wish more countries would look into prevention then reaction.

Here’s hoping!
