Late comer too, but completely into it now ... my son wanted the soundtrack after Curious George ... I bought it for him, fell in love with it myself and went backwards from there (to all the others) and now the newest one.  And I cannot wait to see many more live shows - lots of fun!

We gave our explanation in the old forum, but this is a fun topic!  We bought In Between Dreams after seeing Jack on SNL.  We listened to that CD over and over, then burned copies for our cars.  Shortly after that we bought each of Jack’s other albums.  Our cars are full of Jack and other Brushfire Records CDs now.

After seeing and hearing Jack live he is a truly good role model for a favorite artist.  I was into Jack long before I realized Kokua and the Johnson’s environmental efforts.  That is just a bonus to me being genuine environmentally minded.  I had studied environmental science in college and worked in public service (not environmental)for years.  Before our first trip to the Kokua Festival I had just applied for an environmental job… got back from Maui and landed the job.  I am forever grateful to work in the field I LOVE.  Pretty neat ties from Jack’s music and festivals to our lives.

I first heard flake when it first came out on the radio back in… 02?  I went absolutely nuts over that song, and it is still one of my favorites.  The first Jack album I bought was On and On I think the day it came out, and now i have all of his albums.  I saw him live with g.love and donovan frankenreiter (or however you spell that) in september 04, and will see him again this summer.. i’m so stoked already for the show and it isn’t even until august.

it was about 2 years ago i was watching Noggin with my little bro and the video for Upside down from Curious George came on and i was like i like this guy. Then i saw the curious george movie and loved it, then my mom got me the soundtrack and i loved it then i just listened to all his songs on the computer for awhile then i got in between dreams and LOVED it and ive been in loved with it ever since. I love the laid back attitude and it just reminds me of summer and makes me wanna go to a beach and just chill.
Thanks Jack for making awesome music!!!!!!!

Jimmy Buffett got me into Jack.  We were at a concert and Buffett played Horizon Has Been Defeated.  The next morning I looked up the song, and bought some of Jack’s albums.  I have been hooked since.  Another great thing to come from a Buffett show.

My brother-in-law’s old Navy buddy sent him Brushfire Fairytales, then he gave me a copy because he knows what kind of music I like.  I think this was summer of 01, because my daughter was born that spring, and I know before she could talk, she could sing “da da da-da da da” from Bubbletoes.

I wish someone turned me on to him sooner! But, I heard my local radio station advertising for Jack Johnson coming to town. I had no idea who he was. They played ‘Flake’ and I was immediately hooked! I went to the net and looked him up, found some more music. I could not believe I totally connected to his music. I went out and got his first two CD’s. Then, I was bummed because I had missed his concert. So I am finally going to get to see him live in August. YAAAA!

Some years ago I saw someone recommending Jack on a Dave Matthews Band forum. I listened to some of his songs online, then saw Brushfire Fairytales and On And On in a record store and bought them. But it was the Greek Theatre DVD that finally got me hooked. And at that time I had trouble playing barre chords on guitar, but learning Jack’s songs made them feel so natural :)

I started listening to him during on and on. I got into all the brushfire records and related artists like
ALO
Ben Harper
Matt Costa (who I saw at the Glass House in Pomona)
Donavon Frankenreiter
G-Love
I’m gonna check out Mason next.

I have all cd’s a recording from a radio interview with Jack and Ben Harper
and several concert recordings. I have all the songbooks and try to play along. I have played for 15+ years and still I suq!

Here are some recordings I did with a friend who is much better than I.

C-ya at the shows!

P.S. That’s me and Jack in my profile pic to the left. I took it with him when I spotted him at the hotel I was stayint at. We had to leave the day of Kokua 2 years ago, but this was better then going to the concert..getting to meet Jack. He’s a really cool guy.

my best friend gave me the burned cd of brushfire in late 01 and i was skeptical as I usually am when people give me cds and ask me to listen to “this awesome singer” anyways, on first listen it wanst really for me, but i really appreciated my friends love for Jack and listened to it a couple more times and LOVED it. A month later it was this guys bday, so I went on ebay and got him a signed guitar by Jack (totally authentic) My love for Jack has now far surprassed his love for Jack and I wish I could get that guitar back! (lol....jk...kind of)

that’s pretty funny...and ironic.

Ok, that’s funny. I wish someone would buy me a signed Jack guitar! Wow!

I have been listening to JJ for years. I am really becoming interested in the environment as our world is changing so much. I recently moved back to the states from Japan, and the way that that culture recycles, it is like it is second nature. It really inspired me to try and implement those same qualities in my extended family and such. So anyway, enough babbling, long story short, I love love love Jack’s music (Zach’s, too). But it is the All At Once org. and all of the environmental info that keeps me here! I am scheduled to start school (very non-traditional student BTW :-)), and I was planning on getting my Art Ed degree, but I think I may go into environmental Sciences.

This sounds crazy but its the truth...So I was at a CD and Movie store alittle over 4 years ago (a was a little 8th grader at the time), so i was just wanting to buy a CD for the hell of it. Couldnt find one that a really wanted, and then me and my friend say IBD sitting on the stands...My friend said he thought the guy graduated from Texas Tech (which is alittle over an hour from my town), so i decided to buy it withtout even listening to a song beforehand....4 in a half years a later Jack is my favorite musician and ill be seeing my first Jack concert in two months.

Although what my friend told me about Jack graduating from Texas Tech couldnt be further from the truth, its the best bull shit ive ever heard.
