Solar Roofing Shingles

I had this idea the other night after seeing our energy bill go up again… “Wouldn’t it be a great if there were solar power roof shingles available?”

I did find this site… http://www.OkSolar.com

Yes they do make them and what an awesome way to have a source of clean renewable energy.. that is if you can afford it!The price for one of these systems is outrageous! My husband and I are just your average working middle class family trying to make ends meet. It would be great if there was a way to make this product more affordable!

I am in the process of putting panels on a small commercial building.  In Delaware, where I live, it seems it is much more financially viable to put panels on commercial buildings rather than residential.  It also seems that each state is different in terms of what rebates are offered and whether panels make sense to install.

Here are a couple of other sites I found that provide links to state-specific information:

http://www.dsireusa.org/
“DSIRE is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives that promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.”

http://www.eere.energy.gov/states/state_information.cfm
US Dept of Energy site with state-specific info.
