Hey, I was looking for a little help. My son receives his medicine in a large box once a month. It need to be kept cool so they ship it in a great big styrofoam box inside a cardboard box, with ice packs. I have tried to ask them to switch the packing material, but they cannot, I have offered to send it back, but they say they will not reuse it.

Any suggestions for what I could do with the styrofoam?

Okay, I figured it out myself. For anyone else wondering....there is an alliance of foam packaging recyclers that I can mail the styrofoam to, unfortunately, this means I have to store the junk somewhere. Oh well, if anyone comes up with a better plan let me know.

Maybe you could find someone local who ships stuff out that needs to be chilled.  Someone who ships perishables???  Or look on craig’s list?  or freecycle.com

Ask and you shall receive.... This morning while watching the news, I see that they are asking for styrofoam coolers for the food drive for the flood victims. I took my cooler and about 40 refreezeable ice packs along with a bag full of canned food. Okay, I wonder if it will be this easy every month.

I love it, that’s great.  :)

I wonder if one of those Mailboxes stores would take them.  I know they will take the packing “peanuts” and reuse them.  Seems worth a try.  I don’t know if they ship cold things or not.
