any thoughts on this?  who are you voting for?(I’m for Mr. Obama) Has Jack publicly endorsed a canidate??  just trying to get some conversation flowing.

I’ve gotta go for Obama.  My job and paycheck depend on it (I’m a union air traffic controller).  Some of you may have heard about all of the staffing and contract issues.  Not going to start into that here though!

The only thing I’ve heard from Jack or his peeps is that they are only encouraging people to register and vote.  Haven’t heard anything about a specific candidate.

Well, I have thought long and hard about this, I really do not get a kick out of politics, but I know how necessary it is. I will be voting for Obama, I just really hope he sticks with everything he says. I am ready for change. I think everybody wants change, but nothing ever really seems to materialize. There are things that I disagree about, but the truth is there is no perfect candidate. I think he has integrity and compassion, I hope I am not wrong.

If the dream i had 20 years ago is a step into the future it will be obama.

Both candidates suck. As usual.

I am curious how much of the billion barrels of oil that the Bush administration claims the off coast has is actually economically recoverable. I doubt the amount will have that great effect on the economy. Bottom line, offshore drilling is BAAAAAAD news for our oceans. Obviously.

I am not sure of McCain.
I know I am a minority here being a conservative, but what are the republicans thinking??

I wish Ron Paul still was in the race…

Instead of trying to find more ways to rape the earth for “one thing”, he should be creating a comprehensive plan how to move away from oil…
oh no, just start drillin’ bubba…

And even if it is “recoverable” it would be a few years until we saw it, nothing would change until then.  Alternatives are the answer, not more drilling and contributiong pollution to our already hurting oceans.

McCain also says he wants to build 45 new nuclear power plants.  yikes.

Actually, just the fact that the drilling would happen would have a pretty substantial economic effect, initially. Oil futures would begin to drop, which would drive the price of oil down. I don’t agree that this is an ideal solution, but it is a solution.

As for Nuclear Power plants, it is much “greener” than current fossil fuel that we currently use.

I’ll be voting for Obama, as I have been a supporter of him since his days in the state senate.

I agree that nuclear is cleaner, given no accidents.  But 45, he’s nuts!  That is almost one new one in every state.  I would much rather see that money spent for everyone get a solar panel and small wind mill on their roof.
We need to make better progess in wind and solar before we add more nuclear.  (imo) :)

Well, I’m never impressed with the choice of presidents...just not of my world...there’s a whole discussion there...for now it’s Obama...I’ll be looking more into it next week.

The whole drilling thing is so creepy...and so is nuclear power...both so unnatural...of course that comes right back to us...and how we live...so really the best way for change is to change ourselves.  Responsibiity...we have the power to change ourselves.  At the very least a little at a time...and consequently, seeing how we knowing or unknowing have created what we are/what we do.

Solar panels and windmills on homes create no where near the level of energy needed to run an american household. Nuclear energy is powerful and remarkably clean. To your remark about making progress in clean sustainable resources like wind and solar, I agree whole heartedly. But we need to find a solution in the mean time.

Also, if anyone saw Senator Obama’s speech this evening, that is why I am voting for him. I have followed him since his state senate days and he is what he speaks.
