What would you change about All At Once

Hola Amigos

here is your chance to help All AT Once
we want to know what you would change?

What features would you like to see in the AAO community?
-features from other communities you like
-features from AAO you don’t like

What features of the old forum do you miss?
-features you would like to see come back
-features you don’t like about the current forum

What features do you think could make the AAO community better?

I’d like to see a “Resources” section where we could somehow compile good ideas, links, how-tos, etc.  by subject area.  I’d be happy to help think it through, but I know we are coming up with a lot of good stuff, and I also know how hard it is to find things buried in a thread.  It could be I’m just not savvy with searching in old threads..... Seems like people don’t always post in the categories, so maybe a resources section would be a better place to categorize.

Sounds like extra work for someone, but maybe some of us could help.  And including members who are willing to answer questions or help out as part of the resources would be cool also.

Why Cant we just have all the features of the old forum plus the new features that we have now..especially freedom of speech cause thats what made a lot of people leave.

a little more freedom of speech, AAO is a great place but sometimes it seems like fun is not allowed… and it is true that a lot of people left because of this.  Also, I think there are too many discussion topics for how much activity there is on here, other than the general Jack and general AAO discussions everything else is pretty dead, so maybe make fewer topics and just have the general ones.

I know this topic has died down a lot, but it is obviously still in the back of people’s minds. I for one love this forum. I love the idea of AAO, but I do agree that there should be fewer topic areas. I have visited other Jack Johnson forums, but they lack the substance that this forum has. On the other hand, it is hard to hold attention for long time just focusing on the topic of making the world a better place. I know this is sad, but it is true. At least it is a common ground for most of us, but we have to expand on this.

Also, I would love to hear from Jack some, I know he is busy on tour and raising kids and running a record label,.........okay, okay, I guess i will live. Just let him know that we are spreading the word about AAO and he has changed some lives.

I think there is a balance with the freedom of speech thing.  There was a lot of nonsense on the old forum, and I am glad we are not having to sort through that.  On the other hand, some dissent which leads to real discussion can be good.

I am assuming that the way this forum is set up is the way Jack wants it to be.  Being a different concept, it may take a while for it to evolve and find its voice, and continue to evolve.  I think this is already happening.  You can tell, for example, how energized those who volunteer have become.  I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing if people come here when they are focusing on making the world a better place, and spend time elsewhere when they are focusing on other things.

One thing I hope AAO does NOT do, is to categorize people based on how many posts they have.  Just because someone posts a lot, does not make them a bigger fan or a better member.  Everyone should feel equally valued and welcome.

Seconded.  I barely come here anymore.  No off topic discussion?  Not a community atmosphere if you ask me.

I’d like my organization (see http://www.wavesfordevelopment.org) to be able to become a partner org, but can’t see any way to do it.

Hi Jim =)

I’ve sent you a PM with some contact info - please let me know if you need anything else!

If I could change one thing, it would be the speed.  The website seems a little slow to me.  When I click or scroll it’s delayed.  I’ve learned to be patient and wait for it, but it would be nice if it was a little quicker.  :)

I just noticed that the forum works better for me when I’m not logged on.(it runs faster) Then when I do log on it has delay.  Does this happen to anyone else or is it something on my end?

In all honesty, my family and I attended a show in Chula Vista after driving in Labor Day traffic from Los Angeles. We carpooled with some friends of ours who were also attending the event. We had a great time, but I noticed that most of the concert goer’s know two or three songs and have no idea what JJ stands for musically, or environmentally. I am a fan of Mr. Burgundy ;) and therefore wanted to believe the Cricket Wireless Ampitheater would be supportive as well. I asked for a refill of my cup of Coca Cola and was refused. I was actually told that I had to get a new cup. So while renewable water resources were available, my family and I were required to get new cups. Cardboard based plates and bowls, recycling of all plastics being picked up after the show would have also been cool. This is a long fight and we are all just lazy. I was disappointed in the overall hypocrisy of the show in general.

I would like to have a way to search and filter through the videos by topic of interest or location. That way, I can be more aware of local groups that I can be involved in.

Also, is there a badge or graphic for the community that I can copy and link to with my blog to promote this community?

I haven’t been here in many months, the reason: you CAN’T discuss anything but Jack and the environment.  Just ridiculous!!  The only difference between this site and the Chinese government’s media control is they have better food.  Your hippy parents would not approve of your new policies!! Please bring back the old forum.  I don’t care about the bright colors here or about the produce that you planted yesterday on your back yard if my basics rights are not being respected. Please ease up on everyone.  We are good people.  Otherwise, I will continue to boycott this place for most of the year and refuse to attend any shows until the situation here changes.

Do you want the truth? Do you know what changed the most here: YOU
