Conservation volunteers in the UK

If you live in the UK and would like to do your bit for your local environment, then it’s worth checking if your local Borough Council has a Ranger Service. Most do and very often they run volunteer sessions. I work as a Ranger for a Borough council and we run several sessions during the week. The work we carry out could be anything from creating woodland paths, tree planting, getting chest high in water to clear rubbish from a stream or just a good old litter pick to create a cleaner environment.

We also run sessions during the summer holidays for kids to join in, currently we are creating a nature reserve for the local schools to use. It keeps the kids healthy too, they’re getting a good cardiovascular work-out at the moment by digging a massive hole for our wildlife pond! lol.

So why not google Ranger service and the name of your local Borough Council to see if you could help too.

....I’ve just thought of something else too.....There’s also an organisation called BTCV, They’re the British Trust of Conservation Volunteers, they have oodles of things going on around the country.
