GET A SNEAK PEAK OF JACK’S NEW ALBUM, TO THE SEA, AND HIS FIRST SINGLE, “YOU AND YOUR HEART” ON MTV

Start counting down, Jack’s new album, entitled To The Sea, will be released on June 1st, 2010, on his own label, Brushfire Records.

Jack just returned from a two-week trip to LA, NYC and London to share his new album. While in New York, Jack stopped by MTV studios and talked with them about his influences as a guitar player and highlights of his new record To The Sea. Jack gave MTV a special sneak peak of the first single “You And Your Heart,” from his new To The Sea album. “You And Your Heart” will be released to radio and be available for sale on iTunes on April 6th.

To The Sea, Jack’s fifth studio release, was co-produced by Jack, his bandmates - bassist Merlo Podlewski, drummer Adam Topol, and keyboardist Zach Gill, and their longtime engineer Robert Carranza. To The Sea was recorded at two solar-powered studios: the Mango Tree in Hawaii and the Solar Powered Plastic Plant in Los Angeles. JACK ANNOUCES NORTH AMERICAN DATES FOR HIS UPCOMING SUMMER TOUR

This April Jack will be headlining the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival in Australia and the Kokua Festival in Hawaii. In addition, this summer Jack will embark on a world tour in support of, To The Sea. The European dates have already been announced and are currently on sale. The North American leg of the tour begins July 9th in Hartford, CT and ends on the west coast with two nights at the Santa Barbara Bowl on October 13th and 14th. Highlights include stops at Madison Square Garden, Jack’s first headline appearance at the Hollywood Bowl, and two nights at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Tickets go on sale on April 10th.

For Johnson’s To The Sea tour, his production team, with the support of Reverb and MusicMatters, will continue to pave the way in green touring practices and community engagement. Greening actions include fueling tour vehicles with sustainable biodiesel, offering eco-friendly tour merchandise, and promoting ride share programs. Johnson’s tour will also collaborate with over 150 hand-chosen community groups around the world as part of Johnson’s All At Once Community. This year’s All At Once campaign will focus on supporting non-profit groups and engaging fans in the realms of plastic waste reduction and sustainable local food systems. Jack and Kim Johnson receive “Kuleana Award”

Kanu Hawaii has honored Jack and Kim Johnson with a “Kuleana Award!” Kuleana Awards are given to individuals who have inspired change in others and in their community through their own demonstrations of Kuleana (Kuleana being the Hawaiian value of personal responsibility and accountability).

Kanu issued the following statement about Jack and Kim today:

“As a team, Jack and Kim model stewardship, compassion, and living lightly on the earth. They live a simple lifestyle, eat from their own garden, and devote lots of quality time to their children and their North Shore community. The Kokua Festival is Back in 2010!

The Kokua Festival will return for it’s sixth year on Earth Day weekend - April 23rd and 24th, 2010 - at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii.
All proceeds from the Kokua Festival will go to the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Jack and his wife Kim to support environmental education programs in the schools and communities of Hawaii.
This years lineup will include Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley (solo acoustic), Taj Mahal and local island favorites Jake Shimabukuro and Anuhea.
Tickets are available to the Hawaii residents on February 20th and to the general public beginning February 21st. All Festival and ticketing information can be found on KokuaFestival.com.

New Album and World Tour

Jack and his band, Adam Topol, Merlo Podlewski, and Zach Gill, have been putting countless hours in at the Mango Tree Studio to record their 6th studio album. The album, currently untitled, is being recorded on 100% solar energy in Hawaii and will be released worldwide the week of June 1st on Johnson’s own Brushfire Records label. Stay tuned, we’ll have more news for you on the album front in March and a new single out in April.

Following the June 1st release of his new album, Johnson will embark on his first world tour since 2008, kicking off in Europe on June 16th. The tour will be a mix of headline shows London, Paris, Berlin, and Amsterdam and festivals including Glastonbury (UK), and Roskilde (Denmark). Stay posted, the US Tour dates will be announced in March.

Jack Johnson: En Concert

Thanks to everyone for picking up Jack’s new film and live album En Concert . The film and album document Jack’s 2008 world tour. 100% of the 2008 tour profits and profits from this release will be going to fund the Kokua Hawaii Foundation and the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation to support environmental, art, and music education around the world. The film features guest appearances from Ben Harper, Matt Costa, G. Love, Mason Jennings, and Neil Halstead. The album features guest appearances from Eddie Vedder and Paula Fuga. You can buy them separately, or in a special deluxe pack that features the album on CD, the film on DVD and a 60 page booklet here. You can also buy the releases on iTunes.

En Concert in Hawaii shows

Thank you to all of you who made it to the legendary Hawaii Theater for the En Concert screening and live Jack show. All proceeds from the shows benefited the Kokua Hawai’i Foundation. The nights were complete with Zach Gill playing piano for VIP guests, an exclusive raffle, screening of the film En Concert, followed by an intimate acoustic performance by Jack alongside band members Adam Topol and Zach Gill . Special guests appearances by Hawaii’s own, Kawika Kahiapo and Paula Fuga.

This Warm December celebrates its 1st birthday

This Warm December Vol 1 , the Brushfire artist holiday compilation record celebrates it’s first birthday. The album features tracks from all the Brushfire artists, the first studio recording from Zee Avi, original holiday tunes, and reinterpretations of some of your favorite classics. 25 % of the profits from this album support children’s music education. The album is available in stores everywhere for the holiday seasons and Volume 2 is in the works for next year.
