Well, that, and the fact that Jack even made a last minute musical appearance at the Arlington Theatre, a surprise showing that was announced less than 24 hours before the event began.

Jack Johnson is harnessing the power of his Twitter followers to promote his new live album. Users send a form letter (form tweet?) to their followers and in return will get a free MP3. Nice. It’s simple, probably cost next to nothing, and will most likely be very effective.

Backstage with Green Rocker Jack Johnson

Aug 12, 2009
Source: Planet Green

It’s not everyday you get unfettered backstage access to a rock concert but my assignment for Focus Earth wasn’t to go backstage at an “everyday” anything. This is Jack Johnson, king of green rock and roll (though he is careful to point out that nothing about him is rock and roll, his music is of a different brand) ...

After the platinum performance of
Jack Johnson’s 2008 release of Sleep
Through the Static, the North Shore
native has relatively dropped off of the
tour circuit; that is, at least in the U.S.
he has. With the 2009 release of the
singer/songwriter’s DVD En Concert
set for August 25th, Jack Johnson and
Brushfire Records have prepared the
DVD as a compilation of his recent
European tour.

Singer Jack Johnson doesn’t mind success, as long as it doesn’t come with the large carbon footprint. In an industry known for its excess, the 33-year-old has steered clear from outrageous rider demands like green M&Ms only or expensive whiskey and instead requires recycling stations at green buffets at his tour venues ...

Newsflash: Jack Johnson’s music isn’t just for surfers anymore.  Yes, he surfs. Yes, he plays ukulele. Strawberry shortcakes just might save the world, and that’s why Jack Johnson is spending the last Friday morning of July on his knees, picking the ripe red fruits from a green patch at Goleta’s Fairview Gardens. Surrounding the world-famous surfing rock star, UCSB alum, and sporadic Montecito resident are children gathering strawberries, including two towheaded boys of his own, but mostly kids from the garden’s summer farm camp ...

At most venues, the Jack Johnson Tour hosts a handful of regional nonprofits in addition to the four regular national/ international organizations. In Santa Barbara, where the community ties to Jack and company are strong, they’ve opened up their Village Green to 15 hometown nonprofits, including five from UCSB alone. Here’s a brief guide to whom you’ll find in the Village Green at Harder Stadium ...

Johnson kicks back, to his fans’ delight

Credit Jack Johnson for knowing himself and his audience. His style of laid-back folk-rock might not be to everyone’s taste, but if you’re attuned to it, he can serve it up to you in spades. And he did exactly that at the Comcast Center on Wednesday, dishing out nearly two hours of beachcomber vibes that did a lot to counteract the cool, cloudy evening ...
